Day 1: Cancun

Arrival in Cancun. Hotel transfer. Accommodation in hotel Radisson Hacienda Cancun.

Day 2: Cancun - Chichen Itza - Merida (daily route 350 km)

In the morning you pick up your rental car. You begin your trip by driving past the grots of Dzitnup to on of the most important Maya sites Chichen Itza. We advise you to take a closer look at such famous buildings as the Kukulan-pyramid, the observatory or the ball court. Afterwards we continue our journey to Merida, the capital of the Yucatan federal state. Accommodation in hotel El Castellano Merida.

Day 3: Merida - Celestun - Merida (daily route 180 km)

You could spend the morning in Merida by going on a city tour, including a visit to the governor's palace, the cathedral and the Montejo palace. Afterwards it is worth taking a drive to the fisher's town of Celestun, which is located in the identically named nature reserve. The highlight is the boat excursion to the nature reserve, known for the pink flamingos. Return to Merida. Accommodation in hotel El Castellano.

Day 4: Merida - Campeche (daily route 170 km)

Drive to the Puuc-region. A visit to the former Sisal-hacienda in Yaxcopoil as well as to the impressive Maya-sites of Uxmal and Kabah both being amazing examples of the classical Maya architecture. Continue to Campeche with its recently restored historical buildings appearing in all glamor. Accommodation in hotel Plaza Campeche.

Day 5: Campeche - Palenque (daily route 400 km)

In the morning it is advisable to visit the fascinating colonial town with its typical fortifications that were supposed to protect it from the pirate attacks. The regional museums in Fuerte San Miguel exhibiting tomb treasures of Calakmul are also worth visiting. A drive to Palenque in the afternoon. Accommodation in hotel Villas Kinha Palenque.

Day 6: Palenque - Agua Azul - Palenque (daily route 150 km)

A visit to the mystical cult site of Palenque, once the empire of the legendary ruler Pakal. Ascend the temple of inscriptions, where you will find Pakal's grave. In the afternoon we are driving to the water cascades of Agua Azul located in the middle of the jungle. In the late afternoon return to Palenque. Accommodation in hotel Villas Kinha Palenque.

Day 7: Palenque - Chetumal (daily route 460 km)

On the way to Chetumal it is worth visiting at least two excavation sites: we recommend Chicanna and particularly Kohunlich, with the temple of masks dedicated to the God of the sun. Accommodation in hotel Holiday Inn Chetumal.

Day 8: Chetumal - Riviera Maya / Cancun (daily route 360 to 420 km)

A visit to the modern Maya-museum in Chetumal. A drive to Bacalar as well as to the lagoon of seven colors with the idyllic Azul cenote. We drive further to Tulum to visit the late classical cult site built on a cliff high above the Caribbean Sea. Drive to your hotel in the Riviera Maya or Cancun. Return of the rental car.
