In 1540 it was the first city established by the Spaniards on the Yucatan peninsula, which later became a very important harbor. Accommodation in hotel López or something similar.

Early in the morning we are headed to Palenque, where we will have a siesta in the swimming pool of our hotel. Day 9: Xpujil - Kohunlich - Laguna Bacalar
The original name of the archeological site of Kohunlich is not known. In English it is called "Cohume Ridge"- hill covered with cobrush. An archeologist Victor Segovia, who discovered and explored this site, named it Kohunlich. From Kohunlich we continue to Laguna de Bacalar, where we can enjoy an amazing view from our hotel: the lagoon in the sunset.
